Tintoretto exhibition Venice Falciani restaurant

Tintoretto comes home

The masterpieces of the famous Venetian painter come to Palazzo Ducale until the 6th January 2019, on the occasion of 500 years since his birth.

Since last September Venice is surrounded by Tintoretto’s works, following a majestic project supported by the National Gallery of Art of Washington and organized by Gabriella Belli, Fondazione Musei Civici‘s manager. Jacopo Robusti, also known as Tintoretto (due to his father’s job, a fabric dyer), is famous for being the forerunner of Baroque art: he used to be called by the upper-class representatives to decorate buildings and churches throughout the city. The exhibition focuses on the most productive period of his career: from about 1540 till his last works.
The event doesn’t stops at Palazzo Ducale but reaches the Gallerie dell’Accademia that hosts “The young Tintoretto“, aimed to show the painter’s first years until full success, and keeps to some expositions installed in the main Venetian art galleries.
